![]() ![]() Colter Bay has an activity for everyone in the family. This lovely area is set on the shores of Jackson Lake, and offers practical amenities like laundry facilities, showers, restaurants and a grocery store, as well as purely-for-fun diversions like a marina, gift shop, visitor center, and horse corrals. Needless to say I won’t be back.Think of Colter Bay Village as summer camp for the entire family. We just spent 3 weeks on the road and stayed at some incredible campgrounds that were so kid friendly, polite and helpful and this place wasn’t one of them. My husband told them the grass was already brown and they called us liars and kicked us out on our last night 4 hours before we’re supposed to be dressed and ready for family pictures for our 10 year anniversary. The spots are small so I’m not even sure why they would offer a fire pit because there is no where else to put it unless you put it in the middle of the road. ![]() If they’re so particular about where the fire pit goes maybe they should place it themselves. Not sure why they needed more time? The place is a dump and there were hardly any campers there at the time. When we arrived the person at the desk gave the fire pit to my husband and said to take it himself to save the staff some time. Then they will yell at you in front of your children for burning their grass with the fire pit when you place the fire pit where the grass is already brown from the previous campers. They were literally inside drinking at the bar and shrugged their shoulders and said that’s a maintenance issue. Staff doesn’t care and will refuse to turn the water off. Staff is beyond rude, it’s way over priced, and the sprinklers will come on and soak you and all of your stuff when you’re outside enjoying the afternoon. And I can say in all honesty I have never based my opinion of a campground on the status of their grass! And yes, I have stayed in campgrounds without grass. My intention here is not to give this campground anything less than a truthful observation. And for goodness sake, make sure your camper wheels are not touching the grass or you will be asked to move it over! □ But the only place you can have a firepit at this campground.) Don't take that for granted here. ( Notice the picture of the campsite with the firepit on the gravel beside their truck. I would call and ask about the ability to place a rug and a firepit on your site. Also, if setting up your camp site is something you enjoy. I have felt more welcome at a Loves Travel center than I did here. And the only reason I say this is because of some of the staff members. Would I recommend this campground? Only if you can not find another place to stay. Either way, it takes away from this campgrounds experience. My husband called it an authority problem. We also noticed that when one of our traveling friends left their camper that one of the staff came over and walked their site with a note pad checking out his camper and his site. And given the fact you don't feel set up, I really didn't feel like I could enjoy the campground and the experience of being in my camper. (Pictures included) But, with Yellowstone and Teton Park so close, spending a lot of time at your sites is not something that a camper would probably choose. The sites, as mentioned, are extremely close. And it's a shame giving the great location that the owner doesn't understand the value in a good experience for his customers. ![]() Some of the staff, in my opinion, could not care less about your overall experience at this campground. I would never put more weight on a blade of grass than I would place over our campers' memories, nor make anyone feel inferior to the grass on our property. Let me say here that my husband and I own a campground. And that we would not be allowed to have a fire because it would damage the grass. (Pictures included) We then were told we were not allowed to place a large rug on the grass because it might kill it. This move placed us maybe 2 or 3 inches over. After parking, we were instructed to we needed to moved our camper over because our 24-foot motorhome was on the grass. Upon our arrival, after driving four days, it felt off someone "showing" us to our sites, giving the fact we had a map and our site number. With some of the staff the owner has in place, I'm not sure if the owner is interested in a totally enjoyable camping experience for his customers. Given this great location, it's a shame this campground is only utilized as a moneymaker and not also as a memory maker. Fireside Buffalo Valley RV Park is in the perfect location to Yellowstone and Teton Parks. ![]()
